Your Government has failed, Catholic Bishops to President Buhari

The Catholic Bishops conference of Nigeria (CBCN) says the failures recorded in President Muhammadu Buhari administration has dented the president image as a man of Integrity.

The CBCN disclosed this on Thursday after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In a press statement made available to state house reporters after the meeting by CBCN President Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, The CBCN informed  President Buhari that he had an enormous amount of goodwill of Nigerians when he came into office and many Nigerians saw him as a person of integrity who would be able to bring sanity into a system that was nearly crippled by endemic corruption.

But Nearly three years later, the  goodwill is being fast depleted by some glaring failures of government which they have the moral responsibility to bring to his notice.

The CBCN noted that there was a feeling of hopelessness across the country and expressed concern over attacks by suspected herdsmen …

ultichoice, DSTV/GOTV To Shut Down June 2019 (Read Details)

The Federal Government may have notified the management of MultiChoice DSTV/GOTV that their operations, in Nigeria, will come to an end in 2019 as their license expires June next year.

According to a letter to that effect issued, on Tuesday, by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation(NBC), the license issued to them in 2014 by NBC will not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.

If Multichoice DSTV/GOTV will ever operate in Nigeria again after expiration of its license, the only option left for them is to go to licensed Signal Distribution company, that is Pinnacle Communications Ltd or ITS.

GOTV has been accused of being used as a conduit to siphon foreign exchange from Nigeria by its parent company, South African Multi Choice DSTV.

Boko Haram: Defence Minister, Military Officers Lambast Gov Shettima

The Defence Minister and top senior security officers have expressed their dismay over the alleged claim by Governor Kashim Shettima that Generals from the Southern parts of the country are responsible for the return of peace in Borno State.

Governor Shettima made the outburst during a town hall meeting of military and security agencies in Maiduguri.
He said he was disappointed to observe that the previous commanders, who are from the southern states of Nigeria, did much better than the last occupants of the office who are from the North.

“Some of our greatest accomplishments in the current counterinsurgency efforts were recorded under army generals who are not from Borno and northern Nigeria. And what we have recorded in the last six weeks outweighs what was accomplished in the last three years.”

He singled out the Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, a non-Muslim of Igbo stock for exhibiting leadership and professionalism in the fight against the Islamic e…

Dana Air Addresses Brouhaha Following Aircraft Door That Fell Off

The management of Dana Air on Wednesday said the door of its aircraft fell off because a passenger attempted to open it.
A statement signed by Kingsley Ezenwa, Media and Communications Manager at Dana Air, said the incident could not have happened if no one tried to open the door. We wish to state categorically that this could never have happened without a conscious effort by a passenger to open it (exit door).

Mr. Ezenwa in his reaction Wednesday said by design, the emergency exit door of the airline’s aircraft are plug-type backed by pressure, which ordinary cannot fall off without tampering or conscious effort to open by a crew member or passenger.

We also wish to enlighten the author that, when an aircraft is airborne, it is fully pressurized and there was no way the seat or door could have been ‘shaking’ as insinuated,” the statement explained. It said further that a thorough inspection was however carried out on the said aircraft upon landing in Abuja, by the airline’s engineers…
