Akpabio gives condition under which he will support Udom Emmanuel for 2nd term

Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has given conditions under which he will support incumbent Governor Udom Emmanuel for second term.

The Senator spoke at the annual get-together organized by the deputy governor, Chief Moses Ekpo.

Akpabio said he would support the governor for a second term if perceived current marginalization of his senatorial district was addressed.

He warned that the era of ‘carry-go’ politics was gone and charged the governor to brace up for the big task.

The former governor, who is widely believed to have installed the incumbent governor against all odds in 2015, pointed out that he would only endorse Emmanuel’s re-election and rally support for him if the policies and programmes of the administration were not discriminatory against Ikot Ekpene geo-political zone.

He said, “2018 is less than one year to election, all is not well, don’t allow anybody to deceive you that all is well. If the hotel in Ikot Ekpene rots after so much money had been expend…

“If APC has any strand of dignity, then Amaechi must resign as the Minister of Transportation having been appointed and already functioning as the DG of President Buhari’s Campaign.

Festus Keyamo says he will be a fool to say APC is the best thing has ever happened to Nigeria

As the 2019 general election draws closer, Festus Keyamo (SAN) called on Nigerians to form a power bloc well suited and ready to take over power from the All Progressives Congress (APC), because the party is not the best option the country has to offer.

The popular human rights lawyer in an interview with SaharaReporters/SaharaTV posited that APC was only used as an instrument to overthrow the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He urged Nigerians to look ahead to another platform that would represent and fight for the interest of the people.

He said, “It is not that we were blind enough to think that everybody in APC were saints or angel coming from heaven, they were core politicians who had soiled their hands in the ruling party and defected just that we needed a platform to push out the former ruling party, PDP.”

“Am I here to think that the APC is the best thing to happen to Nigeria? I will be a fool to say so. Am I here to say that there are no thieves within the APC? I will…

Fuel: FG insists on N185 per litre •Says scarcity’ll persist without price increase

The federal government has insisted on increasing fuel pump price from N145 to N185 per litre, saying that given the landing cost of N171 per litre for the product, the government regulated pump price of N145 is no longer sustainable.

However, the National Assembly Joint Committee on Petroleum (Upstream and Downstream) and Gas yesterday kept mum over the proposed increase, as well as the continued payment of subsidy by the NNPC, contrary to the bragging earlier by Senate to query the agency over who approved the subsidy it had paid on PMS.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, said this when he led other key players in the oil industry to a public hearing on the fuel crisis during the Christmas and new year, which has continued to linger.

Speaking at the hearing, the Minister who corroborated the revelation by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that about four thousand five hundred trucks loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were diverted during the Chri…
